Many of you know that I have PCOS which basically means I have a hormonal imbalance that causes me to have irregular periods. One of the symptoms of PCOS is a lack of ovulation leading to infertility.
A few months ago, I spoke with my ob-gyn and she sent me off for a number of tests, which came back with the following additional information: on top of the PCOS, I also have a polypoid thickening on the posterior wall of my endometrial cavity and my other fallopian tube is totally blocked. Needless to say, we were pretty disheartened to learn about that - some people seem to pop out babies with no problems but we seem to be headed in a different journey. So I was scheduled to do a few procedures, all day surgery, to help with these challenges.
Today was the first of two procedures scheduled: Vic drove me to Delta Hospital and I had a polypectomy and the doctor also performed a D&C to clean everything out. It felt pretty quick; I went into the surgery room at around 2 and woke up right around 3. I was in no pain when I woke up and when the nurses checked my blood pressure, they said they were impressed at how steady and low it was (that info was for my mom and 4E) :) I was at the hospital until around 4 and other than feeling sleepy, I felt fine. Vic was wonderful and since I hadn't had anything to eat since the day before, he took me to one of our favourite restaurants for dinner.
The doctor said that otherwise things looked normal, so I'm encouraged by that, and she said she would call me if there was anything of concern to discuss.
Anyway, the second procedure is a (I think) called a tubal cannulization - which basically means the doctor injects dye into my tubes to see where it's blocked, and then goes in and tries to unblock it, another day surgery. This one hasn't been scheduled yet as I was told this is dependent on my cycle and because I'm so irregular, they can't book it until I basically get a period (which would be who knows when).
So, now that it's out in the open, if you're saying some prayers, maybe you could just add Vic and I in your prayers - we would definitely appreciate it. We'll continue to keep you all informed when we find anything new out.
Love to you all.
