An Urbanspoon Observation.
After church today, I had a real hankering for pasta so by process of elimination and mostly laziness, we stopped by the Boston Pizza in Fleetwood (Surrey).
Worst. Service/Food. EVER.
Our order was relatively simple, 2 appies (Bandera Pizza Bread and Cactus Cut Potatoes), 1 entree (chicken pesto penne) and an iced tea. The 2 appies took over half an hour to arrive. Then the only entree we ordered came about 20 minutes late... and without any chicken!! Chicken is the FIRST word in that order. The pasta didn't taste like it had any pesto sauce and was pretty slimy. On top of that, we didn't get refills on the drinks and the plates they served us with were dirty and still had crusted food on it!! Gross. I would understand if they looked short-staffed and the restaurant was packed... but we were 1 of 4 tables there and there were 3 servers on the floor.
I hate that I still felt compelled to tip them even though it was basically the worst dining experience in recent memory. I felt completely ripped off that I had still to shell out $45 of my hard-earned money for a meal that didn't even deserve a quarter of that. So, passive-aggressive person that I am, I blasted them on my Urbanspoon account and you better believe that Vic and I tweeted and FB'd about the experience.
So needless to say, right after the chicken debacle, we pretty much asked for the bill so we could leave. We didn't even want them to pack away our food - who knows how they might have messed that one up. We just asked for a to-go box and did it ourselves.
It's really a shame because Victor and I used to go to BP all the time; it was 'our' place to go to when we were dating and we went about 2-3 times a month. Granted, it was the one in Richmond (No. 3 Road). They had decent food, decent service and a good ambience. I know it's all franchised but seriously, there needs to be some sort of quality assurance in franchises or places like BP Fleetwood will close down all the other hard-working BPs out there.
Sigh. Lesson learned.
