Yesterday, Vic and I were supposed to go to the Canucks open practice (he got tickets - it was free) but it had been a long time since we were able to sleep in so we decided to spend a lazy Saturday morning in, which was a great change of pace. We were able to meet up with our friends and LinXus cofounders Curtis and Elaine for lunch to catch up and officially close LinXus down (an end to an era!). It was really great to sit and hear how things were going for them - Elaine is set to graduate from the M.Div program at Regent College in April and Curt is set to graduate form the same program in December. They have shown amazing dedication through this whole thing and Vic and I were so glad to hear how well they were. We really enjoy spending time with them - we have so much fun and I hope we get to see them again soon.
We were able to come home for only about an hour before we headed back out on the road - we, along with 5 other young adult couples in our church, went over to our pastor's house to have dinner and possibly talk about... adult baptism! Vic had initiated it but we are considering becoming baptized as an adult. If all goes well, we will most likely get baptized this upcoming Easter weekend. So exciting all around.
We pretty much booked it after church today and headed to Granville Island to celebrate with Abbey (Mulholland) for her first birthday party and it was so much fun! It was so nice to see everyone; I hadn't seen the girls (or the guys) since last year so it was nice to see all the little kids (who are growing up so quickly!) and all the big kids too :)
So I had given up carbs/gluten/sugar for Lent (well, for personal and health reasons, but Lent was a good kickstarter for it) and for the most part, have tried to strictly follow it. Since Ash Wednesday, I have studiously avoided those types of food except for one time, when someone made me a delicious, homemade cake (how could I refuse!) and today, with not a lot of gluten-free/sugar-free food choices, I jumped off the deep end feet first. I pretty much binge-ate lunch: 4 small slices of pizza (gluten!), 1 cake pop (sugar!), 1 cupcake (sugar!) and a quarter of a glass of pink lemonade (sugar!). After the cake pop, I was talking to the gang and they noticed that I was getting a bit of the shakes (oops!) so I had to stop eating. On the way home from the party, I passed out and then passed out again for 3 hours (!) and felt like overall crap for the rest of the day. Lesson. Learned!
