I was on lovely holidays last week - and surprisingly, did not get to sleep in or nap at all!!
I spent the week catching up on Once Upon a Time (my current favourite show). I had been a full season behind and it was nice to watch shows I PVR'd in February. Other than that, I was able to spend time with my mom and Chloe.
As for the Volvo, we got the news on Friday that the damage was so intensive that they would not be able to repair it within the budget (insurance budget was capped at $5900 and the damages were more than $10,000). That made me so sad; we hadn't had the car even a year and it was in mint condition with low KMs (2001 - 126,000). So we spent the weekend going to used car lots trying to see what our options would be when we hear back about a settlement.
On top of that, I've been having back pain and migraines and so haven't been sleeping properly. Good thing I had the week off to take it easy but I wasn't able to get an appointment with a physio until this Thursday! So I'm looking forward to my first session. On top of that, my doctor had said that my body was misaligned but I'm hesitant to go to the chiropractor's again; it always feels good while I'm there but then the pain just comes right back and I don't feel like I'm getting any better, so I stopped going.
We also had our first (well, Vic and mine at least) worship service at church last Saturday evening; 3 full hours of worship. It was so awesome!! Although in the end, my back was in so much pain from standing so long and my fingers were so numb. The pain was worth it though :) I can't wait for the next one.
Overall, a busy staycation. My next vacation booked is in 14 more business days - yay! Vic's planning on going to Vegas on the 11th of November and I was considering going with him; I was also going to be driving to Portland with my mom and Johann just before then. I guess we'll see, since funds are tight right now and we're looking for a new (used) car.
I've got an addiction and it's called Facebook Bingo. Sigh. What a thorn on my side. Vic started playing it when we were over at his parents house for Thanksgiving and got me hooked on it yesterday. We basically spent the entire day on the couch, watching WWE (blech) and playing Bingo.
Takes me back to Canada Day bingo games in the Bingo tent in Steveston. Ahh, the good old days.
Damn addictive game.
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! I hope you are able to spend time with people you are thankful for :)
Lots of stuff going on in the past few days... I started my staycation on Friday - hurrah! Some much needed time off has long been overdue. I haven't had a full week's vacation since I started working in 2011, so I have been feeling pretty burnt out. I took a sick day on Friday to go to some doctors appointments and officially start my vacation on Tuesday, since Monday's a stat holiday.
Last Tuesday, my mom, a family friend and I went out to watch Gravity at Landmark Cinemas in New West. It was dark but clear when the car in front of us stopped abruptly for a pedestrian. We had slowed and were at a full stop when the car behind us slammed into us and we bumped into the car in front of us. My mom and our friend ended up with sore necks and backs. :( I felt fine the first day but by Friday, I was stiff and sore, had a headache that wouldn't go away and was dizzy a lot so Vic convinced me to go and see my doctor, which worked out because I had already booked time off to see my ob/gyn. The poor Volvo is now set to go to the shop to get repaired next week; the trunk won't close and the hood in the front is at an awkward angle :(
Speaking of my ob/gyn, the time finally came for me to go in for a consult on what to do next. I had my last procedure done in July and had only had one period since then :( so it was definitely time for some help. She put me back on Metformin, which is supposed to help regulate my insulin levels and I was given some Clomid as well. It was actually quite daunting; she basically said that if we're not pregnant within 4 cycles of taking Clomid, our next option is for IVF. Scary thought - Vic and I had a serious conversation about what we would do if we don't get pregnant. I'm not a huge fan of taking fertility meds in the first place and at this point, I'm in the 'no' corner for IVF for a number of reasons, one of which includes the crazy price tag it comes with. So keeping our fingers crossed and asking for prayers that Clomid does the trick. I apparently was a Clomid baby and so was my brother, so I know it works :)
Anyway, yesterday was a pretty emotional day so I'm taking it easy this weekend. We have a Thanksgiving marathon in the works; I'm hosting for my side of the family tonight and we're going to Faye and Angus' tomorrow night and I'm looking forward to both meals and time with family!
It's been about 2 weeks since I've last posted - I hadn't realized how quickly time was just flying by!
Let's see, here's all the fun stuff that's happened:
We went out to have Filipino food in Richmond for Mom's birthday on the 29th :) It was delicious.
I'm on this Atkins 'lifestyle change' with a friend from work and this was during the first two weeks - in the first two weeks, I have to go through the Induction Phase where I basically cut out all wheat, sugar and fruit from my diet. It's not so bad because I can have all the bacon I want :). However, as everything you eat with FIlipino food is eaten with rice, it was a real bummer not to be able to partake. I've lost 7 lbs the first two weeks though so at least that's a nice reward.
Work has been crazy busy as well; the first milestone dates of my project are in October and I can't believe I've been at it for almost 3 months now! Some of the changes have been good, we had some curveballs along the way but overall, I think it's been a positive experience for me and my team. So yay for us!
Deb and Doug have gone across the pond to visit with the Imries for about 6 weeks. I can't wait to hear how their trip has been :)
Just this past weekend was the Friends of the Richmond Library's annual Whale of a Book Sale and it was busy as usual! I worked the 8:45-1 shift and it was fun :) I can't believe all the great deals you could get. I blanked out and didn't bring any cash with me, which was probably a good thing since I have so many books at home that still need to be read.

Loved by the Savior. Blessed with a wonderful husband, a beautiful daughter and an adorable pup.
I love photography, singing, reading, trying new food, organizing, all things Disney and always looking forward to my next adventure. You can usually find me with a book in my hand or talking about Pentatonix. An unfortunate Amazon.com addict :)
Oh yeah, occasionally, Vic will post too. :)
