On Saturday, i volunteered again for Muscular Dystrophy photographing the Firefighters Convention in Richmond - about 150 firefighters getting together for a weekend to talk about how they can (increase their) support for their charity of choice, Muscular Dystrophy. It was a very well run conference and of course, how can being in a room with 150 firefighters go wrong :)
It was also very inspirational and I can say that I learned a lot about MD in general, where the research has been going in finding a cure and also how people with MD live. MD causes muscular degeneration and there is no cure. It's genetic and sometimes is a crap-shoot, which means that even if your parents don't have it, you can. There was one guy , Keith Knight, who spoke who didn't have use of his body except for his head and he was still able to play video games! If you have some time, I would encourage you to just click on the link and watch it. Crazy when you really think about it and helps you to realize how blessed we are to have our health and full function of our own bodies.
This Sunday (today), we brought Chloe over to visit Vic's parents (who got a new car, yay!) and also had a full turkey dinner at Deb and Doug's (with Grandma). It was so delicious (as per usual at the Newtons!) and so nice to have a turkey dinner. We did miss Toby's presence though, but we know he is with the other Newton pups that went ahead to doggy heaven with him, and that he is in a better place. Chloe did have a good time, although she was very sniffy as I'm sure she could still smell Toby around the house. It was great to be able to visit and catch up with the family though.
