In the meantime, check out those cheeks!
Ellie's baby cousin was born today! Welcome, Alexander Robert MacInnes. We are so excited for Al and Nancy and can't wait to make playdates when Ellie is bigger!
In the meantime, check out those cheeks!
We are so blessed by the generosity of our friends :)
One of our friends is a professional painter and as a gift, he and his GF (Shaun and Vanessa, the couple we drove down to LA with last year) painted our nursery for us! The picture does not do it justice (it's darker in the picture than it is in real life) but the grey and blush colour is just so beautiful to look at. The room is empty right now as we get ready to start moving things back into the room, but sometimes I go in there and
I dropped Vic off at Bellingham Airport veeeery early on Sunday the 8th; he is headed to Vegas and is set to come home on Thursday, which means that I’m living the single life for a few days. It’s been very quiet at home with just Chloe and I as Chloe doesn’t talk too much J. It’s been a nice couple of days off though as Monday was a holiday (Family Day) and I was able to finish my errands early and come home to fit in a nap with Chloe before we retired for the evening.
Right before Vic left (Friday night), we were able to attend a potluck dinner at Casa de Macau, the Macanese cultural club that Vic’s family has been involved in (helped to start 30 years ago). It was the last event for Vic’s dad as President and it was nice to be able to see a number of people we don’t see too often! There were about 90 people there; it was definitely a packed house.
We’ve got a spiritual conference coming up the next two weeks at our church and then I’m going to be ‘retiring’ from the Worship Team in March – seems a little surreal as I connect to God through music but it’s definitely time; it’s getting hard to play the bass with my protruding belly. Having to shift the bass after every song and standing so close to the amp is probably not too great for the baby either J. As much as I will miss it, there’s been a little bit of drama happening within the team and I will be glad to take a step away from that and try to put my focus back on where it really should be – God.
As of this week (and if baby comes on time!), I only have 12 more weeks of work left and I couldn’t be more excited! My last day at work is May 1st and I’m due on the 15th so that should give me two weeks (hopefully) to get settled before baby comes. I can’t believe how fast time has flown by; it seems like just yesterday that we found out we were expecting and now I’m in my 26th week. I went and did a gestational diabetes test a few weeks ago and didn’t hear back from my doctor immediately, which I am assuming is good news. I’ve got an appointment to see my doctor again this Thursday so we will see!
We’ve always known this, but the outpouring of love and generosity from our friends and family these past few months has been overwhelming for me and Vic. We have gotten so much valuable advice and have been given/lent so much that it’s definitely eased the amount of things we have to purchase for the baby.
So thank you so much to those who have thought of us, spoilt us and baby!

Ok, so 2.5 out of 12 is not that great. One problem is that I don't actually remember these past January, so it's hard to track what I've actually set for myself. Maybe it's time to figure out some good goal-setting strategies.
(Graphic at times! Be warned)
We ended our 2014 with a whimper (literally!) - Vic got the worst case of the stomach flu I've ever seen and so we ended up staying in because he was in the bathroom 2-3x an hour. The bug he caught was pretty strong; even when the vomiting stopped, he still didn't fully recover for another week at least. The day I was supposed to go back to work (Jan 6), I had stomach spasms all night and then after my shower in the morning, vomited all over our bathroom. Yum. Emailed my boss and told him I wasn't coming in, then hopped back into bed.
Vic was going to make an appointment for himself to see the doctor because it had been a week, so I tagged along just to make sure baby was ok. When we got to the doctor's, I ended up projectile vomiting in the doctor's bathroom. Oops! I cleaned up, but it just made me feel that much sicker. I felt so horrible for the person who had to clean up. Doctor checked up on the baby and heartbeat seemed normal, so he gave me some anti-nausea medication and sent us back home for rest. I ended up sleeping on the ride home, napped for the day and then slept through the night. Both Vic and I ended up taking 3 days off each. It was definitely a bad stretch to end 2014 and start 2015.
Vic and I are feeling like our old selves again, fortunately, and back to the grind. Lots of things on the go for the next few weeks: I'm wrapping up a project at work for the end of the month, Vic's getting ready for his trip to Vegas on the 8th.
A couple of weeks ago Jas and I went to our detailed ultrasound and I found out the sex of our soon to be child. While Jas did not want to find out at the time, she tasked me with letting her know what we were going to have in a fun/cute way on Christmas. Well today, Christmas came early and the picture is the way I told her. If it's not obvious by the extremely pink Canuck jerseys, come May 2015, we are expecting our DAUGHTER!!
While our daughter wont be able to fit into the 12 month sized jersey (the smallest they have). I can with all honesty say how absolutely adorable it is. Of course, the matching one for mommy is pretty awesome too!
From all of us in our (growing) Da Roza clan - Jasmine, Chloe, myself and future baby girl - have a very Merry Christmas and all the best in 2015!!
Vic and I went for the anatomy scan last week and Vic found out what the sex of the baby is. I told him I wanted to wait until Christmas to find out, so here's a fun poll to see what you think baby is!
Just so you know! I've been saving my baby-related blogs until we could feel comfortable sharing the news so now that we're not keeping it a secret anymore, I'm going to publish the blogs I've been saving :) Some of them go back to September... so be warned!
Also, I know I'm severely behind on my photo challenge so I'm going to be updating it this weekend.
It's been a crazy season; it seems like we have something going on both during the week and right through the weekend. It's a nice feeling to be surrounded by so many family and friends, but I can't wait until the 24th as I am on holidays until the new year (hurrah!). Looking forward to some down time and just being able to putter around the house.
That's it from me for now... hope to hear from you soon!
